Operations KPI Checklist

What's actually worth tracking on an operations dashboard, versus what just looks good on one.

The gap between something breaking and someone finding out is the number that matters most in most operational reporting. Everything else is secondary.

• Time between an issue occurring and it being visible to the person who can act on it
• Machine or resource utilization against real (not theoretical) capacity
• Document/compliance validity rate, checked against the actual current requirement, not last year's
• Scheduling conflict rate across shared resources or teams
• Manual reporting hours per week, and what happens to that time once it's automated
• Named ownership per KPI. A number with no owner doesn't get acted on
